Governor Eric Greitens has appointed John F. Newsham, of Crestwood, as Associate Circuit Court Judge for the 21st Judicial Circuit, which covers St. Louis County. The position became vacant due to the retirement of the Honorable Dennis Smith.
For more than three decades, Newsham has been an attorney in private practice, specializing in criminal defense and probate work. He is currently a partner at his firm, Dill, Bamvakais and Newsham, P.C. Newsham is also a municipal judge for the City of Crestwood, a position he has held since 2000. Before moving to private practice, Newsham served as a public defender.
Newsham received his law degree and his undergraduate degree from Saint Louis University. He serves on the Supreme Court of Missouri Committee on Practice and Procedure in Municipal Division Cases and the St. Louis County Municipal Court Steering Committee. Newsham has been recognized by the Missouri Bar Best of CLE Spotlight for his “substantial contributions to the continuing legal education of Missouri’s attorneys.”
